Choosing a university and major is a pivotal moment in a student's life, setting the trajectory for their future as well as significantly impacting their long-term personal and professional fulfillment. Recognizing the importance of this decision, EI has established a vocational guidance program to assist students in pinpointing their strengths and passions, ensuring they select a career path that best aligns with their unique interests and strengths.
These guidance initiatives cater to the students’ essential needs at a critical juncture in their lives. For many, selecting a university or technical school major is a monumental leap, and it's imperative they are well-equipped and informed to navigate this decision with confidence and clarity.
Preparing for a Promising Future
The idea behind a series of workshops that we offer is to channel students' efforts into something that is both profitable and satisfying. It is about allowing them to explore and understand their skills and passions, thus allowing them to make more informed decisions about their academic and professional future. Ultimately, the goal is for students to choose careers that meet their aspirations and abilities while also being financially viable.
Our series of workshops are held for a duration of four months for our 4th and 5th-year students. During this period, students participate in a series of activities designed to assist them in their search for their ideal career. In addition to vocational guidance, discussions are held on gratitude, giving back to the community, and volunteering. Students are encouraged to reflect on the importance of giving back to the community and valuing the opportunities they have been given.
For Linda del Carmen, this experience was of great help. She comments: "The tests have helped me clarify my ideas and have a greater understanding of what I should study when I apply to university. Now, I am clear about what I want. I wish to study medicine, specializing in pediatrics.
Abigail Stefany also shared her positive experience: "These workshops are very informative. Honestly, I had a lot of uncertainty about what I wanted to study, but after several tests and recommendations from Professor Ismael, I would love to study Psychology."
